At Verdens Sosiale Forum (VSF) arrangeres i Canada har skapt en konstruktiv diskusjon forumets form og funksjon blant aktivister både i Sør og Nord. En diskusjon om fordeler og ulemper er ikke refs fra Attacs side, slik Klassekampen skriver lørdag.
Attac stiller med over 50 aktivister fra Argentina, Benin, Canada, Frankrike, Japan, Storbritannia, Spania, Marokko, Tyskland, Tunisia og Togo denne uken. Attac Norge er sikker på at det blir et nyttig og viktig forum.

Den strenge visumpolitikken i Canada at mange aktivister ikke får innreise. Attac Norge har skrevet under på dette oppropet mot visumnektelsene.

I år arrangeres dette i Canada, og for første gang i et land i nord, Dette har ført til at mange aktivister fra land i sør ikke får deltatt fordi de ikke får innvilget visa. Dette er ikke et problem ved Verdens Sosiale Forum per se, men et utslag av en rasistisk visapolitikk. Aktivister fra sør kjenner så alt for godt til denne visapolitikken, og mange har derfor vært kritiske til at forumet ble lagt til et land i Nord.
Samtidig så hadde mange håpet på at den nye regjeringen med de liberale i Canada, ville hjelpe til med å tilrettelegge for en bred deltagelse også fra sør. Ikke overraskende, ble det ikke slik.
Når aktivister fra sør blir nektet deltagelse på VSF i Canada er det et tydelig eksempel på den globale insituasjonalsierte urett som aktivistene som møtes på Verdens Sosiale Forum kjemper mot.
Likevel så er Verdens Sosiale Forum fortsatt det største og viktigste møtestedet for utenomparlamentariske aktivister og organisasjoner på venstresiden.
Det er også sterke sosiale bevegelser i Canda som kjemper mot den ekstremt ødeleggende oljeutvinningen ved bruk av fracking. Mange av disse bevegelsene som Idle No More – OFFICIAL springer ut av urfolksbevelgelsene. Det er derfor utrolig spennende at aktivister fra hele verden (på en måte) kommer til Canada og kan bli kjent med disse bevegelsene på nært hold.
At aktivister kommer sammen, lærer av hverandre, bygger nettverk og knytter kampen sammen, er helt nødvendig dersom vi skal holde liv i et håp om annen verden. basert på ekte demokrati, og i stand til å ta vare på hverandre og naturgrunnlaget vi er en del av.
Med tanke på de store globale kampene som står om handelsavtaler, klimapolitikk, landbruk, fiskeri og vårt felles ressursgrunnlag er derfor behovet for, og relevansen til, Verdens Sosiale forum større enn noensinne.

Attac is mobilizing at the World Social Forum in Montreal
The alter-globalization organization Attac is participating in the 2016 World Social Forum (WSF) in Montreal, where representatives from Germany, Argentina, Benin, Spain, France, Japan, Morocco, Quebec, the United Kingdom (Global Justice Now) Tunisia and Togo will all be on hand.
As one of the eight founding organizations of the World Social Forum held in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 2001, Attac has always been very active within the WSF movement. This year, a program with around 20 activities developed in a concerted manner and in conjunction with a number of partners is being proposed.
The focal issues being addressed include the climate issue and the civilizational transformation it entails; extractivism; international trade agreements (CETA, TTP, TTIP, TiSA, etc.); tax havens and the disproportionate power of the financial sector in our societies; the public debt; and alternatives with regards to the migratory crisis in Europe.
More than 50 activists from Attac will be attending the WSF. Among the figures from Attac coming to Montreal are individuals who have maintained ties with Quebec and Attac Québec in the past several years, including a pair of economists, activists and authors, Geneviève Azam (a member of the scientific council) and Dominique Plihon (spokesperson of Attac France), as well as Christophe Aguiton, a renowned social sciences researcher, professor, and Attac France International Commission facilitator.
This WSF will also be the opportunity to discover figures from Attac who are coming to Montreal for the first time, including Jacqueline Balvet (France), Yacoub Bitocho (Benin), Lucile Daumas (Morocco), Nick Dearden (United Kingdom), Esmathe Gandi (Togo), Adoración
Guaman and Cuca Hernandez (Spain), Fréderic Lemaire (France), Carolina Sachs and Hugo Braun (Germany), and Maria Elena Saludas (Argentina).
They will all participate in the major demonstration scheduled for August 9, and the Attac booth will be the gathering point for meeting them.
